Ellis Marsalis died, too. It’s a goddamn shame that he won’t get a proper NOLA jazz funeral.

I heard about that the other night when I was at a particularly low emotional point. It hit hard. I’m sure they’ll do some sort of tribute later, but it’s not the same. I need to play this whole record.

Yeah, along with digging in the sketch crates, I’m gonna start digging in the audio crates.

Aw man. I flippin love Bill Withers. My 1 year old daughter and I were dancing on the deck of a lake house on a gorgeous summer day to “I’ve got dreams to remember”. I had like an out of body experience, it like really fucked me up almost tearing up typing this. I like, saw myself...I was an old man watching my current self have that moment on the deck. Painfully beautiful I guess.
Either way fantastic musician, RIP.

Ain’t no sunshine since Bill’s gone, that man got me through some dark times.
For all the badness the internet has brought to the world, it also provides an archive for history and moments that would otherwise be lost, like a live performance from 1973

What a voice.
“Ain’t No Sunshine” was the first song, alphabetically, on my wife’s phone, and it would always start playing automatically when she hooked her phone up to her old car. I’d always want to listen to the whole thing. She and the kids? Not so much.

My brother’s old iPod, which is currently plugged into my van, always starts up with Waterloo by ABBA. That always gets an immediate “next.”
But yeah, great voice, great song. He will be missed.

Ha! You really need to fix that.
I listened to “Lean on Me” a couple times through and actually teared up. I hope many people listen to this song this week and take it to heart (whether they have a heavy burden, or can share the load).
